NEXT WEEK:
HP Library Annual Meeting Tues. Aug 5th, 7:30 PM Join us at the Library at 7:30pm for brief reports from HPL Board President Ken Emerson, Treasurer Bill Thomas and Librarian Emily Valente. Our Speaker will be Ted O’Meara, sharing lessons from a lifetime immersed in Maine politics and issues, most recently urging fellow Republicans to vote against Donald Trump on The Rachel Maddox Show and helping lead opposition to a proposed fish farm in Frenchman Bay. His working title is “Citizens Divided: How Big Money Has Wrecked Our Politics and Threatens Our Democracy.”
Special Tea Time Weds. Aug 6th, 4-5 PM Come join Dave Hirzel and Alice Cochran for an hour of traditional sea music. Sea Chanteys (work songs) and Forebitters (sailors’ entertainment) from the great age of sail 1880-1910. This won’t be a performance, it will be a singalong. For every verse (which we’ll be singing ) there’s a chorus (which you’ll join in on). Don’t be shy. You don’t need a good singing voice, just a desire to have some old-fashioned fun. The more voices–trained or not–the better! If you have a sea song you’d like to sing yourself, bring it along. Refreshments included: Tea, Grog, Crackerhash (you’ll have to come to find out more about what these are)
Family Movie Night Weds. Aug 6th, 5:30-7PM The Library will be screening the film “The Wild Robot” based on the popular children’s book by Peter Brown. For families and children of all ages.
